The Long Center Presents Black Violin on Friday

Black Violin blends classical, hip-hop, rock, R&B, and bluegrass music. Accompanied by a drummer and a DJ, Black Violin (declared one of the hottest bands of SXSW), has been performing to standing room only crowds. Named after an album by African-American preeminent jazz swing-era violinist Stuff Smith Wil B and Kev perform an average of 200 shows per year and brought their music to 49 states and 36 countries. Black Violin recently inked a major label deal with Universal Classics, and were invited to perform at both TEDx and Google’s Meeting of the Minds event, Zeitgeist.

Black Violin has performed at the Presidential Inauguration Ball for President Barack Obama, NFL celebrations for three Superbowls, US Open at Forest Hills with Jordin Sparks, SXSW Opening Keynote performance, and for US troops in Iraq.
